Capital campaign Our current campaign seeks to build a fuller sized kitchen in the room used for buffets.  In addition to that capital improvement to the building, this campaign seeks to raise the funds necessary to replace the roof.  The roof is not in need of replacing today, but we are approaching the end of its life cycle and we want to be prepared.  To see the kitchen plans, check out the model that Stacy in the Fellowship Hall.  Anytime you would like to make a donation to the campaign, just write capital campaign in the memo line of your check or use one of the building fund envelopes in the narthex.  We have gone past 1/3 of the goal and are approaching the half way mark.

Kitchen: In keeping with our desire to continue serving our neighbors in need, the session had approved, should funding be available, to rework the east end of the center part of the building which encompasses the kitchen and serving room. Taking advantage of our resident architect (Stacy), plans have been developed to install a new kitchen in the serving room and convert the existing kitchen into storage space.

The current, conservative, turn-key cost estimate for the new kitchen in $40,000. This estimate is based on a couple of contractor estimates and has been rounded up. The estimate does not include membership donations of labor and skills, so we should be able to push the actual cost down somewhat.

Roof: The current roof replacement is $25,000. The estimate is based on the following 1) there is approximately 11,700 square feet of decking above us; 2) the current market rate for roofing replacement is $2 per square foot. Rounding up the math gives the $25,000 estimate. One item not included in that estimate is closing in the south (back) part of the Sanctuary roof. This area originally was left open in the 1960s to set the heating and cooling units. Those units have been moved and replaced a long time ago. The area is now a spot for dead leaf collection which is really hard on the roofing material. A cost estimate for that additional work has not been made at this time.

What we need from You: Your financial help! We are asking for you to make whatever contributions you can into our Building Fund with over-and-above your normal budgetary contributions. One time donations or monthly donations spread out over several months will all be helpful. No contribution is too small!
